Parents, please refer to previous emails for the tasks to help Tay Son scouts.

Scouts, the following is guidelines for your rank requirement essay:

For item 9 in the Tenderfoot or item 10 Second class rank, to demonstrate Scout Spirit, please write an essay.  The essay topic is about the 12 scout laws. Please discuss:

What each law means to you in your own words.  Don't paraphrase what you memorize from the book, rather what you genuinely think and feel about it.  And don't worry whether it is right or wrong.  We are not looking for the "right" answers.

What have you done, or could do, to apply any of these laws outside of scouting, at home or at school.

What is your favorite law of all, and why.

First class:

The topic of your 1st Class essay (item 11) is Leadership.  Leadership development is emphasized in scouting because it is an essential life skill.  It helps a person to maximize his potential and achieve his goals in life. There is no requirement in the length of the essay, but it should be thorough and thoughtful.  It is a reflection of your attitude toward scouting and life. Please give it your best.  You can use the below questions as a guide in your writing.

What does leadership mean to you?

Is leadership a natural-born talent, or a skill set one can learn?

What are the trait(s) of leader? and what trait(s) you excel at?

How does it apply to you at your age, in scout and outside of scout?

Do you agree leadership is important in life?  and how so?

YIS,

Tay Son leaders
